South Kilburn Festival 2015, celebrating the cultural diversity of South Kilburn with a five-day event led by residents and local groups. I was lucky enough to produce the ongoings as Communications and Events Officer.
Funded by South Kilburn Trust; residents of South Kilburn combined their knowledge, and passion for the area, to plan a range of activities for everyone to enjoy. A local resident board was formed with: local community organizations, businesses, and talent. They all shared their expertise with the masses or showcased their talents in the form of performance on the main stage. SKFestival 2015 was a day I will remember for the rest of my life.
This was such an exciting time for South Kilburn. The Local Creative Industry was gaining so much exposure through the work of South Kilburn Studios. We all live surrounded by amazing talents, just lacking a platform to share expertise.

We had over 5000 attendees to the event and I would like to thank everyone that made SKFestival 2015 so special. It was a pleasure working with all the local residents, businesses, young people. and sponsors. It was great to see so many people, all coming together.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s festival. It is always a great event that brings the whole community together in celebration of the rich culture and diversity of South Kilburn.
We have something planned for everyone and with the help of local residents and organisations, this will be South Kilburn’s best festival to date.”
Mark Allan, Former Chief Executive of South Kilburn Trust
All in it was an amazing week jam-packed with activities and I would I do it all over again. There was always a strong community, which in recent years has been broken up due to the Brent Regeneration Programme. This was called out by residents as gentrification and it caused a lot of upset. I would like to think that my time at South Kilburn Trust helped to keep the community spirits up and open opportunities for anyone willing to take them.

Why don't you have a read Connect SK Magazine, it's got all the photo's and snaps, write up with the artists.
