ITV2 Tricked

Tricked is a British television show presented by Ben Hanlin.

First broadcast on the 10th October 2013, the show features Ben pranking unsuspecting members of the public and shocking celebrities with his own special brand of cheeky magic, close-up conjuring, and mind games.

I was fortunate enough to have been invited by ITV2 to take part in the third season of Tricked. I was warned in advance that things may get a little messy; they did.

The day started at 11:30 am, with a morning of 'rehearsals'. I was talked through my trick and asked to attend a party, with a friend @ 8:30 pm on the same evening. The events which unfolded at the party were intense and it was quite difficult to keep my cool and refrain from smirking, even though it felt so real.

After we successfully accomplished our trick, we were required to sign disclaimers. This was funnily the weirdest and most surreal part of the day, for me. The set was being ripped down around us, whilst still in a state of shock. What seemed like a normal boat party, was in fact all a set. By the time we had left, our surroundings were silent and still. A polar opposite to the party environment not even 20 minutes prior.

All in all, it was a great day and we all had a lot of fun. Massive thanks to ITV2 for inviting me along, and the full production team for being so well organized. If the opportunity arose to do something similar in the future, I would love the experience again.
